Last night’s Emmy Awards were a long affair, but thanks to the beauty of the Internet, it can be summed up in clips and 140 characters or less.
It started out with host JimmyKimmel going forthe classic “montage of nominated shows” segment, featuring cameos from familiar faceslike James Corden, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Jeb Bush.
Then he moved rightinto a monologue that wasboth cutting and funny, as one would expect from Kimmel.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her eighth award, and her speech brought everyone to tears.
Game of Thronescleaned up andhas now won more Emmys than any primetime series in television history.
With wins on Sunday night in Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Directing, and Outstanding Drama, the show now has 38 Emmys.
It surpasses NBCs Frasier, which held the previous record with 37 Emmys by the end of its 11-season run.
Saturday Night Live is now the only series with more total wins (44) than Game of Thrones.
And Kate McKinnon, who rocks Saturday Night Live and Ghostbusters, won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and gave an epic speech.
Of course a lot more went down Beyonce lost to Grease, the kids from Stranger Things were cute, etc. and Twitter lit it up.
